Innovative Electrically Conductive Compounds By Total

Total innovates in specialty compounds and announces the commercialization of a new electrostatic discharge (ESD) product range. This new technology offers solutions to avoid damages associated with static electricity and hence enhances ESD, a key issue that concerns all aspects of electronics manufacturing.

By the use of high performance carbon nanotubes (CNT), polystyrene and polyolefins compounds have been developed for sheet extrusion, thermoforming, rotational molding and injection. More specifically, the Total CNT compounds exhibit a unique balance of cleanliness, processability and electrical performances.

“Developing such an innovative solution required several years of research, testing and product development, leading finally to the first successful commercial orders last quarter.” - said Xavier Bontemps, Senior VP of Total’s Polymers Business Unit – “This outcome demonstrates again our teams’ capabilities to serve the market with 3 core mindsets: customer proximity, cost effectiveness and high quality standards.”

This new product range provides an innovative balance of properties to packaging materials producers and end users. They are now made available worldwide.
